NORTHERN COASTAL ITEMS. WAIAPU DOG TRIAL BALL. (Special to the Times.) TOKOMARU BAY, May 20. A perfect night contributed towards the success of,the Waiapu Dog Trial hall, held at Ruatoria on Wednesday evening. WOMEN’S INSTITUTE

At the monthly meeting, the president (Airs Grant) gave an interesting report on the federation’s annual meeting. The roll-call, “An American Story.” brought forth a good response. Afrs Phil. Barry, of Gisborne, a former resident of the Bay, gave a very interesting talk on “Singing and Voice Production” and rendered two charming songs. The competitions resulted: Woollen cap to he worn and costing not raoro than 9d Airs Lowe 1, Mrs Grant 2; apple pie— Aliss Mackay 1, Mrs Kay 2; tomato jam—Suss Mackay 1, Airs Kay 2; howl decorated with chrysanthemums —Mrs Grant 1, Afrs Hankev 2.
