Mrs R. T>. Dymcck presided over a good attendance' at the monthly.meeting, when a most interesting demonstration of spinning was given by Mrs H. Maclean and Miss Smith. Miss N. Fletcher was elected delegate to attend the annual'Dominion conference. The results of the competitions were: Chrysanthemum—Miss. M. Nerving 1, Mrs A. Campbell 2.; eggless cake— Miss N. Fletcher 1, Mrs Cameron 2. An. appeal for articles for .the .poor box was well responded to. Tea hostesses were Mesdames. Campbell and Cameron, and "Miss N. Contes. TE KARAKA W.I. Mrs H. Allen presided over only a fair attendance at the monthly meeting. An invitation to tho. Birthday * Party of the Whangara W.I. on May 28 was accepted. It was decided to cooperate.with Pnha and Whatatutu in arranging' a'function to raise funds fdr the Peace Endowment Fund. Mrs F. Hobbs was appointed secretary for the • Spring Flower Show. . Tunnicliffo, Lake Rotorua, and one-time of Te Karaka. to Mr Robert S. Smith, of Tuai, second, son of Mr and Mrs A. G. Smith, Wairon. PERSONAL. Mr A. Todd (Waihora) has left to reside in Dunedin. Mr J. E. Brosnahan (Whatatutn), representing the Te Karaka branch of the Farmers’ Union, attended the conference in Wairoa. Mr Eru Burn has returned from a holiday at Lake Taupo. Rev. .T. D. Plodgson is paying a round of visits in the Motu district. Messrs. D. Cranswick, Quentin Williams and Hyland are visiting Rna-t-cria for the Waiapu Dog Trials. Mr Cranswick’s ‘Dictator’ has again won distinction by being placed first out of an entry of 65 in the long head class at these trials.

Miss B. Benson (Waipukurau) is visiting her parents, Mr and Mrs J. E. Benson, Ormond. Mrs Roger Hutchinson (Waihuka) is a visitor to Botorua and is participating in the golf tournament there. Miss "L. Orr (Kanakanaia) is the guest of Mrs E. AT. Hutchinson, Gisborne.

Constable W. H. Bradley (Hunterville) has lately been staying with friends at What-atutu.

Mr A. Young is visiting his parents, Mr and Mrs W. Young, Waipaoa. Miss J. Sanders has returned from a holiday to Rotorua. Miss N. Clark (Matawai) is the guest of Mr and Airs I. Y. Clark, Tvanakanaia.

MOTU NOTES, AIOTT7HORA BASKETBALL DANCE(Spocial to the Times.) A most enjoyable dance was held at Motubora under the auspices of the Motuhora Basketball Club'. The music was supplied by Mrs Burbrough (piano) and Mr N. Hayrnan (violin). Mr L. Bhynd made a most efficient M.C. W.I. FAREWELL. A' party was given to farewell Mrs Arthur by the Alotu-Motuhora W. 1., St. Paul’s Guild and the local Drama Circle. Mrs Hutchins, on behalf of the W.I. and the Drama Circle, presented Airs Arthur with a. beautiful handbag. Mrs Legge, on behalf of fhe guild members, presented her with n pretty cup and saucer. PERSONALS. Mr and Mrs J. Quirk have gone for a motor tour of the North Island. Mrs'Hawkins, accompanied by her two sons, has motored to Auckland for a short holiday. Mr and Airs McCafferv arc visiting Auckland. ' Mil's P. Cleary (Tolaga Bay) is the guest of Miss P. Read for the school vacation. Mr' Greenup is the guest of Air 11. O Twistleton.
