“GRAND EXIT” AND “WOMAN IN RED.” An lunisual’y absorb:njr uud exciting story is unfolded in “Grand Exit,’’ starring Edmund Lowe and Ann Sot-hern, which will be the first of to-day's two features at the Majestic Theatre. The plot deals with the machinations oh an embittered pyro-mairae who is obsessed with the idea of ruining a large insurance company which Istul treated him shamefully in the past. Working with uncanny success; the madman cots ablaze building ab'tcr build’ng insured with the unfortunate coin-p-ano. Lowe has the part of the lire insurance investigator who is called in to solve the myatony of the chain of conflagrations, but many more great buildings Ore destined to he consumed before, lie. finally guesses j'tlie riddle. Miss Sot-hem is a charming young lady who has the knack of knowing just where and when the next big blazes is going f o take place, and Lowe, who has fallen in love with her is reluctantly .compelled to admit that her actions are suspicious, that he keeps on her trail. The Anal scenes are cleverly worked out. and takp place in a heßc' ‘city asylum. The picture is full o'f dramatic ‘shots’ of’ huge buildings enveloped in flames, and’gives a clear insight'into the organisation off the fli'ci prevention system and "appliances of a large American city. Although the main theme of the film is fast-moving,' there- is plenty of humour introduced' into the plot, and- Lowe himself is tho shilling light in’‘this -direction.
