Questions were addressed to the Foreign Secretary in the House of Comcn-s regarding the recent activities of the Italian military attachein London, and suggesting representations in Rome for his recall.
In reply Mr. Anthc-ny Eden referred to the statement, he made in the House on Monday describing the manner in which evidence purporting to establish a supply oi illegal ammunition to the Ethiopian military forces from Britain had been fabricated.
He said lie wa-~ confident that- his statement would effectively protect the. British Government, and. British industry train further allegations of this kind, and added that in the circumstances he did not contemplate any further action.
The position of the Emperor of Ethiopia and Ethiopian authorities rema ning i.„ Ethiopia was also the sujeet. of answers by Air. Eden, who said that he understood that certain Ethiopian authorities with whom iiie British consul at Gore was in touch, were engaged in the task of maintaining order in that pait of western Abyssinia which, was still micciiquered hv the Italian forces.
Regarding the Emperor, Mr. Eden stated that there war. no restriction on his liberty of movement. The only stipulation Was that while. H:s< Majesty was in fieri itory under British control he should not* engage: in the furtherance of hostilit'o*. N r o uressure, either direct- or indirect, would oo applied to prevent- him coming into the Fluted* Kingdom if ho s-j dosired.
