SUMMARY AND FORECAST. (Press Association?. WELLINGTON, May 21. A slight depression has crossed the South Island and an intense anticyclono is advancing rapidly across the Tasman.Sea. A cyclone centred west of Norfolk Isjancl.has lost its intensity. Winds : Northerly over' the North Island and southerly, thence southwards and -southerlies‘'extending shortly over most of tho Dominion; force moderate to strong. Seas (N-Z. waters) : leather rough about Cook” and Foveaux Straits apd rising on ’the East Coast ; otherwise moderate. ' Eastern Tasman Sea: Easterly winds at first in the northern half ; otherwise' southerlies prevailing, moderate; to. fresh generally : with moderate to rather rough seas. Weather : Cool and changeable, with scattered showers. An improvement is probable soon on the West Coast of the South Island and a more general ono will set in to-morrow; some frosts in the South Island.
