The Union Steam Shir Company has decided not to extend the BluffMelbourne service for the winter months, and the service will be resumed. in November. In a letter to the Southland League tho company states that in spite of the fact that a large number of people journey to New Zealand and Australia by the Maramn, the figures- for the period November 7 to February 16, showed a loss, without any provision for interest and depreciation. In the company’s opinion, the additional round voyage wouldi increase the loss. The company says it is doing its best to provide, a passenger service which will give satisfaction in the' South, but circumstances compel it to have due regard to the financial results.—P.A.
