BRITISH MINISTER SETTLES DANZIG DISPUTE
SAVED THREAT TO PEACE FOR
THIRD TIME

After arduous negotiations by the League Council lasting till the early hours - o 5 the morning, the 'Danzig dispute was settled The Senate agreed to modify the laws to which objection had been raised in accordance with the 'des'.res of the C ouncil. Tiie Associated Press in a special message from Geneva state that Mr Anthony Eden, in. announcing .the settlement which the Government already had implemented, said-. ' “I trust, to-day marks 'a new era , in which the Senate will fully co-oper-aate with the League Council in the exercise of the guarantees.” “Another tripmph for Mr Eden’', says the News Chronicle and other papers, discussing the settlement ol the Danzig dispute at Geneva. “Dangerous 31 r • Eden ’ says the Daily Mail, which daily condemns his attitude regarding-the dispute between Italy and Abyssinia. The Daily Mail expresses' the opinion that Mr Eden is leading Britain into Conflict- in the Mediterranean. The News Chronicle, on the contrary, answers : “There could be no better reply to the parrot talk -about ‘a. dangerous Mr Eden’. Twice ho has played a bold part, saving the threat ened peace of Europe. Now lie has done it a' third time. Mr Eden firmly and .boldly faced the Danzig Nazis, resulting in thd Danzig question ceasing to- exist'as -a. threat to Europe’s peace. °
