“The removal of fittings .from the' existing home to the new building will be! left as late a's possible as the removal of batlri-, basins, etc., will cause a good deal of' inconvenience. FOUNDATIONS RAISED In order to secure a greater fall in the sewer mains): the board) decid-; ed to' raise the foundations, where not already laid, a further Ift. This matter was brought. for\var.d by thefinance committee which' repented as follows: — ' “The ground level at the mater: nilfy home having necessitated ,racing the. building at. least, Ift.,; the; committee viewed tho site and considered the desirability of further raising the foundation levels. After some discussion on the matter .it was resolved that the foundation should be rai-.ed 2 feet to allow for a fall in the sewer mains of 1 in 40, the cleric of worlds being instructed to make the necessary alterations. It was further agreed that that portion of the drain which was already laid should he lifted and made to conform, to the increased fall due to the raising of the foundation levels.” The chairman (Mr M. T. Trafford), explained that the extra cost involved wats £55, of which £7 10s related to' the portion already completed between the home and the nurses* cottage. In his opinion, raising of the level otf the completed portion was unnecessary, as, with the greater flow from above, this would always, ho effectively flushed at the present level.

There was. some divergence of op- ! inion as to whether. the. small portion < mentioned should also be raised, but eventually, on the motion of the chairman, it was decided simply to raise the level of, the portion not t already laid 1 .
