Indian fakir tricks arc the hobby of Mr Bert .Simmons, of Sea street, Herne Bay, Kent. He is a fifty-year-okl greengrocer who has never boon out of Britain. He dances on redhot iron bars, puts red-hot pokers into his mouth, and sticks pins into his body. Mr Simmons gave a performance of his feats to a newspaper representative in his parlour behind ibe shop and said: “I started doing this when I was thirteen. I had read about natives walking over fire bricks at school.
