QUESTION FOR MEAT BOARD.
The Hawke’s Bay branch of the New Zealand Farmers’ Union, at its monthly meeting, discussed a communication from the British Association of Aleat Wholesalers, Ltd. Commenting, the chairman, Air. R. E. Talbot, said that there was no doubt that the channels for selling meat on consignment wore gradually closing and “we know that under the present Aleat Board the farmers’ freezing works have come down to one or two,” he said, “the number of works being steadily reduced onp after the other. Wo don’t know what tho trouble is, but it has happened at AVairoa, Waingawa and Gisborne.
“If these channels close, the farmers will have no option but to close down their works.”
It was decided to write to the Dominion executive of the union, asking that an explanation he obtained from the Aleat Board.
