Tho United States ha's sent a note to the Japanese Government reiterating its protest against’ the MaiiehuIcuon oil'* inonbpoly as violating the existing treaty ’ provisions and being in Conflict .with the open doer policy in the Far East. The note was based upon the view that the setting up of an oil monopoly might be extended to other products.

Senate munitions investigators agreed at a conference with President Roosevelt to avoid any action raising complications with foreign Governments in connection with their search of the wartime files of the J. P. 3lorgan Company and British fiscal agents in the United States during the Great AVar. The investigators Were called to White House as an outgrowth of informal representations, said to have ‘ been made by Ambassador Lindsay, against the disclosure of any correspondence . between the British Government and the Morgans!
