BURTON CUP TOURNEY. FORTY RINKS TAKE PART. THREE ROUNDS PLAYED. Under unusually favourable conditions for this season of the year—ideal weather and perfect greens, a combination which ' goes" to create a bowler’s '-- paradise—this popular touriuimciit, run under the auspices of the Gisborne and East Coast Bowling Centre, was commenced yesterday morning. The competing teams consisted of forty rinks, divided into four sections. In addition to the town clubs strong contingents from? Tokomaru Bayift WaifdaV Patutuhi, Opotiki, To Karaka'‘and Tolaga Bay are also taking part. On the Kahutia green, Mr B. L. Power' in declaring the tournament open, extended to .all visitors : a very cordial welcome, and expressed great pleasure in once again meeting so many old friends. He trusted that, in victory or defeat, good fellowship Would remain' unbroken. On'the' Gisborne and Poverty Bay greens the opening cefenlony Was performed bv Messrs.
