The Hastings Borough Council has been advised' that in common with other departments of the Crofwn rates wil] now bo paid on all railway property occupied by weekly, monthly or quarterly tenants, provided sulcli tenants are not railway servants. The Department will pay all rates as if the tenant was the occupier under the Bating Act. The rates will be pain only for the period during which lie tenant pays rent. This is the same as applies to all Government Departments, and is the result of an agreement reached.' in Wellington with the ■Wellington City Council.
