Af. ter exercising to-day he moved freely to run three furlongs in 435,-.o , displaying some dajsli. 9 Hall Mark is very lame after Saturday’s race. His injured heel is giving a good deal of trouble, but he worked soundly enough to-d'-y. His foot is being held together with a barred shoe. NOTES AND NEWS Cricket Bat has again shown signs of soreness and he has been cased up. H 0 will b e blistered and sent to his owner’s stud at Stonyhurst where he will have another spell, alter which he will be tried l again. Having had a lot °f hard galloping during his career, it is- doubtful if he will stand up to another severe preparation, such as seems necessary to get him to his best, form. An inquiry regarding the running of the Ruatangata Handicap at Whangarei on Saturday was concluded by the judicial committee of the Whangarei Racing Club last evening. The race was won by Royal Potoa, with Oreficld second and Gay Cockade third. The result of the inquiry was that O. Mclnally Was disqualified under rule 295 for six months for hus riding of Gay Cockade, and J. H. Mcßae, rider of Royal Potoa, was suspended for one month under rule 302. —P.A
