FOOTBALL FIASCO
TROUBLE AT DARWIN. WHITE TEAM WILL NOT PLAY HALF-CASTES MUST NOMINATE REFEREE (U.P.A. by Elec. Tel. Copyright.) DARWIN, April 13. The Australian rules football competition which has been the cause °- much unpleasantness m Darwin, ended in a fiasco on Saturday, when a white team did net take the field against- a half-caste team in the final and the latter, after filing into the field and kicking a goal, were declared the winners. Following incidents of the previous Saturday, when spectators invaded the field while members of the whits and black semi-final teams fought, the remaining white team delivered an ultimatum that it would not play tiic final except under an umpire whom they nominated. The controlling authority refused this demand.
