Lambs: There is a. good demand, but the market is over-supplied ond prices are affected in consequence. “Current quotations: Wethers, light-, 3§d to 5:1; do., heavy, 3? 1 to 3kl; owes, 21 d to 3-pi; lambs, twos, 6>|d to 6Jd; eights, 6gd to 6Jd: four.?, 6pi to 6|d; .seconds. Gd to 6Jd.” WAIKATO MARKETS. HAMILTON, Apr* 12, After an exceptionally busy time the sheep season is now entering on a. period of quietness, an c ] this will continue .for a month o r two until owes in lamb come on to the market. At the same time there are still a number of farmers who are anxious to purchase breeding etrcsi but those that have been coming forward to recent safes have not been up to standard, but there is no doubt that good sheep would still find a ready sa.le. At' the present- time the mutton market appears to be over-supplied, and the majority of the yardings ore inferior or, unfinished fdicep., This no doubt, has its effect on tile store market, and! it. is safe to say that a month ago fat wethers wore worth 3s per hea { | more than they arc to. day. The same can he said of fat lambs, which have 'Suffered a weekly decline of -}d per for the, last four or five weeks, and there is every indication of .a further drop being announced in next week’s schedule. This downward tendency has been reflected in store lambs, in fact all classes of sheep, with the exception of breeding ewes, have suffered. With the exporters still absorbing a certain amount of boef it is hoped that the market for store cattle will remain steady. Afo.st of the store cnittlci sales, opened exceptionally brisk, but unfortunately prices were not maintained at the same high values. Neither was it thought that such large quantities - of -store cattle would come forward. However, taking the sales all round, they have been fairly well maintained, especially well grown cattle of quality. Female cattle have not been so keenly sought whilst young' cattle have been more in demand this year than last. y The pig section is stifl transacting a 'fair valume of' business, although the usual seasonal decline has started to set, iu.
