NEW PROVISIONS AS TO PRIVATE EARNINGS
A misunderstanding regarding the amount of- mohty a. Jtian could earn privatebr before his relief ration was affected, was cleared up by Mr Bromley, deputy-ehn.i£innri of the Unemployment Board. at Auckland, avhen replying to a deputation representing the Alliance -of Labour and relief workers’ organisations. Numerous matters dealing with relief work and| sustenance were brought up by the deputation, and Air Bromley promised to give them consideration and forward' a written reply.
Touching private earnings, Mr, Erimley said' that new • nrovisions had. been brought in and these provided that the ratiofi of relief would not he affected until the total income, including relief, -coming into a household, was more than .£1 for tho applicant, £1 for his wife or housekeeper and 4s for each bonaffde dependant; In this amount the family dlciwance, war disability pensions or casual work, was not taken into consideration.
