FINDING OF WATER

PECULIAR POWERS o ASCRIBED TO HAMPSHIRE MAN. A queer instance op the possession of water-divining powers was brought to the notice of the Council of the Royal Agricultural Society of England a.t their meeting in London recently reports a British agricultural journal. A. member of the society wrote stating that, in addition to more common wattler r divming powers), ihijs man was able to discover the presence of water wherever it existed on land >from the application of a test to an ordinary survey sheet. The member, at first incredulous, had put this power to the test on ordnance sheets, and had found the diviner to' he ‘‘absolutely correct” on each occasion. He had discovered a pipe-line, laid underground land entirely hidden from view, and an underground drain. It was also claimed that by more inspection, the diviner could declare what mineral or other deficiencies might exist in samples of soils. The member enquired if any members of the Society’s Research Committee could account for this phenomenon, , but the Committee could only refer the enquirer to the British Association.
