THREE YEARS’ GAOL FOR BLACKGUARD JUDGE HAS NO BOWER. TO ORDER FLOGGING (Press Association). AUCKLAND, April 12. “You behaved like a blackguard to the girl. You are utterly depraved”, declared Mr Justice Herdman in the Supreme Court in sentencing David William Cutler Cooper, 36, a farmer, of To Kowhai, to three years’ gaol Tor unlawful carnal knowledge, and making a .iaLe declaration regarding the birth el a child. Mis Honor said it appeared that the accused had been living With a woman and bad unlawful relations with her daughter, who gave birth to a child. The judge added that he had no power to order a flogging.
