FIREBRAND CLASHES WITH INDIAN TROOPS

An exclusive frontier firebrand, the Fakir of Alingar. and bis tribesmen attacked g Punjab regiment picket at Baigholai. One soldier was killed and. six wounded, and at least 18 tribesmen were killed.
The tribesmen. lc>J by the Fakir of Alingarh, known ns “the Alad Fakir of the Frontier”, crossed the Ewat River and made a determined surprise night attack. The troops repulsed the tribesmen with machine gun and rifie fire.
The Alad Fakir for several months has been endeavouring to inflame the tribesmen in the Malakaud area to revolt against British rule, but they have been defeated in several earlier engagements.
