The racing smash at tho Ascot course on March 27 was inquired into by the A.J.C- stewards to-day. The jockey, D. Ligbtfoot, gave evidence that his mount, The Alotorist. was the first to .fall owing to its f-oreleg failing, which was not due to any interference ■ or defect- in the track. At the Ascot races to-day, the Ascot Handicap resulted: Nellie Thrice 8.6 (Box) and Verbatim 5.3 (Wilson) dead-heat, 1; Shining Gold 5.4 (Percival) 3- Eight started, including Irish' Chieftain; Two lengths between tlio dead-heaters and the thrd horse.
