BRITISH COMEDIES ‘Night of' the Garter,’ the first feature at the Majestic tomorrow, provides the laughable English, comedian Sydney Howard, with one °f his finest comedy roles to date in the part | of Bodger, a butler. Rodger, as m- , terpreted by Sydney Howard, seems | destined to take his place among: the i select group of fictional butlers that i include Jeeve.s, Jenkyn and the aclmir. j able Crichton. It would be impos- ; sible to describe in a' few words the hilarious adventures that befall Bod- j get during the eventful night in which the action of the story take* j place-; a night- when all the members of the cast arrive at a country house in search oi a.- jewel ed garter, a night when doors slam alarmingly in the darkness, as jealous wives chase guilty husbands; a night which for Rodger is simply one attack of consternation after another. Sparkling dialogue* delightful situations, an t | a light and novel plot., are features of ‘The Man From Toronto’ the second feature. Jessie Matthews who will be remembered' 'or lior per fomanecs in ‘There Goes the Bride’ and ‘The Midshipmaicl’ is as fascinating and vivacious as ever in the principal feminine ro’.e. She is castas a.n English girl who is left a fortune on condition that she marries a Canadian whom she has never met. How she disguises herself as a maidservant- in order to test- the sincerity of the Canadian makes an intriguing story.
