LIFE MEMBERSHIP
POVERTY RAY A AND P. ASSOCIATION. DR BOWIE HONOBED. Life membership, in recognition of his work °n behalf. c£ farmers, was conferred on Dr W. A. Bowie at Saturday’s meeting of the genera] committee of thp Poverty Bay A. and P Association. In Bringing forward the proposal, the president, Mr 11. G. Smith, pointed out that the farming community owod~a debt to Dr Bowie which it could never hope to pay. His investigations had been of the greatest importance to farmers and it seemed to the speaker- that the association should do something to i-ocognisc the > work. Mr .T. C. Graham agreed l that Dr. Bowie had: performed a sTeat doa] of work voluntarily and .-without payment. At any time he was ready to help the farmers and nothing was too much trouble to him. Mr iR.. W. Coop referred to Dr Bowie’s investigations into facia] eczema among sheep, stressing- that he spent much, of his own. time arid money iii this connection. .‘‘Dr Bowie has. also done a great deal of investigation into> hone taint and other difficulties which, the farmers are up against,,” commented Mr Graham.
