Regret that the IRt. Hon. J. G. Coate liad- not been able to take advantage of the offer of the roundtable discussion on the mortgage finance proposals suggested by the eomoiercihl and, financial committee responsible for tile recent statoincht was expressed today by Mr A. W. Hoany, secretary of the Associated Chambers of Commerce, actor a meeting of the committee.
Mr Heany said the committee felt very strongly that such r. conference could 1 undoubtedly have found some solution to- the difficult problem at rural finance. Legislation by Parliament oil such aii important subject should very definitely await a full investigation beforehand of all aspects, even if the investigation necessitated an adjournment of Parliament. It might avell produce a system devoid' of the objectionable features of tne proposed legislation.
