OBITUARY
MRS. JAMES DALRYMPLE,
Following a long illness the death has occurred of Mrs. Ada Ruse Dalrymple, wife of Mr. James Dalrymple, of Mangapapa, She will be deeply missed by a .wide circle of friends and the deepest sympathy will he extended to the husband and family.
The late Mrs. Dalrymple was the third daughter of the late Colonel T. W. and Mrs. Porter, and was born in Gisborne. As a girl, she demonstrated a marked musical gift, an accomplishment which indeed was common to the whole of her family. One sister, Mrs. Howie, under the name of Princess Te Rangi Pai, won wide notice as a composer and singer, while anothei sister, Mrs. Frederick Hamilton,
of Nelson, was also noted for her musical gifts. All three girls were educated at Wellington, in a private college, and later, as young women, took a prominent part in amateur productions in Gisborne. Mrs. Dalrymple was the possessor of a fine soprano voice, a lid was frequently chosen for leading characters in the performances of the Gisborne Operatic Society. She was the mother of a large family. most of the members of which are well-known in Gisborne.

The death occurred today of Mi John Louis Hickson Ledger, aged 7-M formerly Controller of the Money order Office aud Post Office Savings Bank.
Mr Lodged joined the Post .and Telegraph Department as cadet at the head office in Wellington on February 2(4 1577. He- had! the rather unique experience of serving the whole of his official career in one office. — IN A.
