ACCIDENTAL EXPLOSION OF. GUN. GIRL KILLED BY BROTHER. /Press Association). TAUMAUUNUI, Dec. 31. At the inquest into the death of Ethel McCann, a single woman, aged 29 years, .who died in Taumarunui Hospital on Saturday, following injuries received to her head when a shotgun being loaded by her brother accidentally exploded at her home at Taringamotu on Friday, Gwen McCann, 20, the deceased’s brother, gave evidence that the gun unaccountably exploded as ho closed the breech. He purchased the gun the previous day. The medical evidence showed that a pellet from the charge entered the skull and was deeply embedded in the brain, causing haemorrhage of the brain.

A verdict of accidental death, no blame being attachable to anyone, was returned.
