Fierce heat prevails in ‘all the Australian capitals, and even worse inland. At Perth, tho temperature on 30 davit between January 6 and Alareh 6, reached SO decrees ana over, at Adelaide, the temperature to-dav is 110 degrees, while tba daytime temperature at Adelaide has not fallen below 80 degrees .since February 16. The shade temperature at Melbourne to-dayt at one stage was 103 degrees. Indeed the week has been sweltering. Conditions in Sydney and the country are almost unbearable. The citizens are bathed in perspiration, due largely to the extreme humidity, wh ;, - n to-day, at one perioj}, wa.o 90, T>or cent.
