L. lb Jacks, formerly of Manchester College,, Oxford, whom the Dean of Liverpool asked to preach three noil-liturgical services with tile bishop’s approval. I,ord Hugh Cecil states tha t; the chapters o ; ; rural deaneries of Bottle Oi-inskirk, and. Northineols passed a resolution of protest showing that a “scandal was caused in the diocese of Liverpool..’’ Replying to Lord Hugh Cecil, the bishop explained that the principle on which lie acted was based on Christ’s word's: “He that is net with, us is agaiffst us.’’ “Wd are not to exclude a man from fellowship . anfi co-operation because lie lias net- attained -tike full truth. Evil temper and exclusiveness are destined to work much mischief in the church”, he said.”
