TO PROLONG LIFE

VORONOFF TREATMENT MELBOURNE, Dec. 21. Six 10-year-old cynocephalus baboons from Abyssinia, to be used by Dr Leighton Jones for the Voronoff rejuvenation treament in Australia, arrived here to-day by the Port Campbell. Dr Leighton Jones has been studying under Serg Voronoff at Aurueil, for the past year. - Four years ago he retired Horn his post as Government Medical Officer at Darwin, and since that time has devoted himself to a- study of the work of Voronoff. He said to-day that remarkable results had been achieved in rejnven ation. One typical example was a Belgian doctor iwho had submitted to the operation several years ago and was still practising at the age of 90. GENERAL IN FUTURE? "The three Voronoff brothers are still engaged in research work,” he said, “and their discoveries in rejuvenation and in the cure of cancer are of great interest t 0 science. “The operation necessary for rejuvenation is nAw included in the text-books of surgery used in the medical schools of Paris, and it seems probable that such operations will be general in the future. “At present there is an ample supply of monkeys,” he added, “but should rejuvenation extend it will be neee.sea,ry for monkeys to be specially bred. Already breeding has been started by Voronoff, but, as the monkeys cannot be used until they are at least 10 years old, no experiments have been made with any bred in captivity.” When Dr Leighton Jones .has the necessary glands from the monkeys, he will give them to the School of Tropical Medicine, at Sydney, for the production of serum for used in cases of infantile, paralysis, and cerebro-spinal meningitis.
