Maori from Te Kaha, appeared before Justices on iremahd this morning, changed with breaking and entering and theft of liquor valued! at £l4, the property of Jolm Walker, To Kaha. Hjqbel. '. Sef|rt. Aliller applied tp Ttitiidraw the charge of breaking and entering and tfliejt, and substituted a cliaTgo pf receiving liquor knowing the same to have been stolen.
Accused pleaded guilty and elected to ho dealt with summarily. Accused . denied! stealing the liquor, but. refused to state who gate *t to, him, though it admitted knAwipg; jt was stolon and helping to ctripk it. ; When asked if he would assi«-. the police in finding the thief* he replNl “No, I will take what is coming to me.”
Accused, who had four previous convictions, including theft and mischief, was sentenced'to six inonxiis’ imprisonment.
