BISHOP’S ADVICE
SOCIAL' PROBLEM CLASP LONDON, Oct. 23. England cannot permanently carry the burden of the ‘social problem class’’ which is riddled with, mental defects, who comprise one-tenth of the community, Bishop Barnes said at Liverpool Cathedral, advocating sterilisation of the unfit. “Alen do not gather grapes from thorns nor figs from thistle?. Blind humanitarianlsm is not Christian or sensible,” he ’ added. “Defectives and degenerates formerly were eliminated from hard struggle for existence, but now are preserved and allowed to propagate at great cost to the community- “ Christ’s teaching is free from any hint of indulgent good-nature, and therefore we ought- to accept eugenic measures.”
