A silent machine-gun, which it is said can fire 600 shots a minute, has been made from two treacle tins, a bicycle pump, and an old clockwork motor, by a 16-year-old boy, Ronald Joseph Smith, of Brighton, in England. Ronald has written to the War Office about his invention which lie made originally ais a toy. He claims that the gun has a range of 1,000 yards. The contrivance has the strength of a powerful air-gun, and it is claimed! to he absolutely silent. He says that ho will construct a new'machine gun which will be even more efficient.
