There is a growing feeling among Jersey breeders in this district that tattooing should be made compulsory instead of being left optional with t l; e breeder as at present, s»ys the “Taranaki Herald,” Mr. Petersen said he had received a letter from Australia stating in effect that in. .future n o more Jersey cattle would be imported from Now Zealand unless they were tattooed. During the discussion which ensued doubt, was expressed as to whether tattooing without the use of a- fire-brand also satisfied the requirements of the stock division of the Department of Agriculture.
