The rebuilding and improving of churches in the diocese of Waiapu was referred to by Bishop 11. Williams in his opening address at Synod in Napier. He said: “The restoration of the church at Gisborne is now under way, and it is; gratifying to have a report from the contractor that ho can find no trace of any further damage and that the building has been exceptionally well built. Th© church of St. Luke at Rotorua has been enlarged by the addition of two bays to tho nave, which greatly improve ls tho building. I was able to consecrate tb e additions on. Sunday, September 17. Trustees have, approved of plans for the enlargement and restoration of St. Peter’s Church, Waipawa, and the work is now in progress.’’
