Constituting |H.Uj ;win*L u l> ,J l fc * ie local Rugby season., a very successful cabaret was held at Le Gumde Lounge, under the auspices of the Poverty Bay Union, on Saturday evening. There was a very satisfactory attendance. The officials are to be congratulated on the arrangements made. Chlisp's orchestra supplied excellent dance music and a very enjoyable supper was served. . At an appropriate interval, Mr. C. H. Sceats, chairman of the executive presented the trophies won during the season and extended the union s congratulations H> the r.eispectiv’® winners, also referring briefly to various aspects of the play during recent months. The trophy winners were .as follow: Senior .Championship Cap.—Celtic F.C. Junior Cup.— Celtic F.C. ' Third Grade Cup.—Marist F.CFourth Grade Cup-—High School F.C. Fifth Grade Cup. —High School F.C. Premier Cun and miniatures.—Old Boys F.C.

OLD BOYS CLUB DINNER

A large gathering of players attended' the Old Boys Football Club dinner at the Gisborne Hotel on Saturday night. Mr. K. A. Woodward presiding. Representatives of Celtic, and H. 5.0.8. clubs were also present and a very enjoyable evening wa s spent by all. During the evening, the presentation of the Premier Cup anj the miniatures was made by Mr. G. Sceats- In presenting the Cup to Lie Captain of the team, Mr G. Pocock Mr. Sceats said the - Union were very fortunate in having this cup, which warranted the Union putting the competition 011 earlier in the season. . Mr. P. Wall’s medal for the most improved player in the seniors, was won by Mr. G. Fraser. In presenting the medal, Mr. E. Jeffries, said Mr. Fraser had set an example that it behoved all players to follow. He was the keenest and most consistent trainer in the team.

As a mark of appreciation for Uieir servjoes as coaches, Messrs Jeffries ami Wall were presented with a small token of gratitude by *-ho members of the teams. The Royal toast wa s proposed by Mr. Woodward. In proposing the toast to Old Boys Football Club, Mr. Sceats' said that this cull) had set an example which should be followed by all clubs: encouragiu.r young players. 111 one instance a third grade player had been played as a senior, and if alf clubs followed this example el' pushing younger players up ,to the senior ranks, there would be nothing to fear for the future of football in the future.

Tom mo said that the standard of play among tbe juniors boro was, it anything, more versatile than tlio senior play, and tbe spectators could look forward to some* good football when these players went up to the senior ranks next season.
