Cabinet < has promulgated several new laws. One creates “Trustees of Labour/’ wlio act until trade unions and employers’ organisations are incorporated in a proposed State system. The law abolishes collective bargaining and empowers the trustees dictatorially to regulate wage schedules.
Another law aims at protection of national symbols and prohibits the manufacture and marketing of articles displaying symbols offending national sentiment.
RAID ON HAUNT OF THIEVES,
The police took GOO prisoners in a remarkable raid in the area known as “The Mint.” a notorious haunt of thieves and receivers. On previous occasions the bulk of the frequenters escaped, but this time tlie whole population was trapped. Extraordinary scenes followed, men and women flingiiig valuable stolen articles in the streets, and hurling packets of pawn tickets from the windows.
