SLUMP AND HEALTH

s !?K;Ne;ss on the decline.

no MALNUTRITION AMONG SCHOOL CHILDREN;

(Press Association.;

I WELLINGTON, May 19. Statistics compiled; by! the Gov» eminent Health authorities show that there is no evidence of malnutrition among school children in New Zealand,” said the Minister for Health (Mr. Young) to-day. The Minister said that, in spite of statements as to the effects of under-feeding, it was a remarkable fact that in New Zealand, as well as in other countries,* 5 there was evidence of a falling off in sickness. Many hospitals which previously were over-crowded now had beds lying idle. 1

“It has been proved,” added the Minister, “that this is not due to people being unable to afford treatment", but because sickness is definitely declining.”
