OBITUARY

AIRS R. ' Af. BELL-

Deep regret- will be felt throughout a wide circle at tKe announcement ox the death yesterday of Airs Elizabeth Bell, wife of Mr R- M. Beil, of the Willows, Alatawhero. The late Mrs Bell was born in Sheffield 60 years ago and as an infant, came out to New Zealand with her parents, who settled first in Napier, and a few wears later took residence in this district, where the marriage of the deceased to Mr Bell took place. Mrs Bell is survived: by her husband, one sister, Airs J. Russell, of Alatawhero, four daughters, Airs G. Colby, of Tuai, Airs AV. Kerr, of Xuhaka, Mrs A. Graham, of Gisborne, and Miss B. Bell, of Gisborne, and one son, Air John Bell, of Gisborne, to whom the sympathy of many :pends will be extended. The funeral will leave the residence of Airs Bell’s daughter,. Mrs A. Graham, Richardson’s Avenue, at 2 p.m. to-morrow (Sunday) for Taraheru cemetery.

AIR AV. F. J. (“WALLY”) LONG ■ The many friend's of Air W. P. J. (“Wally”) Long, third son of Airs E, E. Long, of S Ormond Road, W ’M receive a great shock to learn that he passed away early this morning. Air Long was bom .in Queensland and came to Gisborne about 1910.' For some years he was on the staff or Alessrs Nelson Bros, as stock clerk: later was on the staff of Alessrs At illiams and Kettle, Ltd. as outside representative ; and more recently was in the employment of Air W. AlcKinnon. Mr Long had the misfortune ro contract a severe chill 'during the week-end and on Alonday, as double pneumonia had developed, he was removed to a private hospital. Ho went to jtho Great War in 1916 and when abroad was incapacitated by pneumonia. Air Long was a prominent-, member of the Star of: Gisborne Lodge (A!O.F.) and also of the Turangahui Alasonic Lodge. Tie was very successful in the conduct of social entertainments in aid of the Star of Gisborne Lodge. A very wide circle of business and other friends will extend much sympathy to his bereaved mother and the-members of the family.
