POVERTY BAY CHAMPIONSHIPS. MEETING AT RUATORIA. RUATORIA, May 18 Excellent entries have been received for tile Poverty Bay district dog trial' championships at present in progress at Mankakino umlor the auspices of th 0 Waiapu Sheep Dog Trial Club. The 'judgo is'Mr. M. Parkinson of Kanakanaia, who expressed the v.iew that the course is the most difficult in tho North Inland, and that tho standard of work in the opening class would compare more than favorably with that in any other centre. The first class, the long head, resulted in a narrow win for D. Bruce’s Smut, which scored 39pts., compared' with the. 38 of C. J. Hyland’s, Jock. In - the results below, Hie points are allotted oil the following maxima: Head 17, pull 17, hold 4, command 12, total 50. The best nine dogs 1 were as follows: —
