WANGANUI, April 5

At the final .Wanganui wool sale of the current season to-night, values opened firm on Wellington and showed an appreciable advance on (hose ruling at- the- AVanganui auction in February. The full bench of buyers evidently appreciated that- there would be only 0310 more Dominion sal© "bliis ssn.son. that at Napier, and competed keenly for their requirements.

Compared with February fine cross bred 46 to 48 was up a. -Id; inferior up a -kl; medium crossbred 44 to 46’s average and inferior up a $d to id ; coarse crossbred 40 te 44’s up a to a 3d; low crossbred 36 to 40’s par. Hogget wool caused competition and lots of-u-good. quality appreciated a Ad to Id.

Bradford secured , the bulk of the coarser sorts of fleece wool, the finer types going to the Continent. Japan also competed for the better class of .fleece wools. France was strongly in the market for bellies and pieces and' for good quality lambs. Australian mills . also secured a proportion of lambs and several nice lines were taken by Bradford. Ninety per cent of the total offering was sold. It was refreshing to see competition among the buyers at ruling values and present indications arc that the Napier sale, which will offer a quantity of clean Hawke’s Bay wool, should he a record for tho Dominion this year.
