MEETING OF LOCAL EXECUTIVE PROGRAMME ALTERATIONS

Various -important changes in connection with the usual evening meetings were made by l the. executive \of the Poverty Bar Professional Athletic and Cycling Club at tlio weekly meeting'which was attended by the following: Messrs E. Sharpies (in the chair), R l . Dolman, E. Hamilton, It. Humphreys, H. J. Sutton, G. Bowson, N. Pilcher, H. Miller, C. L. Davy, R. Britton, C. E. Church, and J. Watts, secretary. Reference was made to the fact that evenings were drawing in and, in view of this and also that, these events take up a great deal of time, it was decided to eliminate field events from future programmes.

Membership applications were received and approved, fro mthe following: Miss J. Martin and Messrs B. Brown, H. Cater, C. Nnden and J. Livingstone. In view of the extreme interest shown in the running events, and the growth of the ladies’ section of club runners, the committee agreed to arrange for a ladies’ relay race, over 440 yards. This event should promote enthusiasm among the runners, and additional interest among the followers of athletics. There are now 14 lady runners of experience in the club, and it should be possible to find three good teams. The first relay organised by the chibl will bo run this evening.

Schoolboy performers and others of minor age are to he encouraged by the arrangement of special class events for them. A trophy has been donated for the' first of these events, and the race will be included in the programme of a weekly track feet as soon as sufficient, nominations are available.

Arrangements in connection with tine annual picnie of the club, to he field at Kopua during the week-end, were further discussed. The secretary reported that he had arranged for the transport of picnickers by bus to the picnic ground, and that the time of departure would be ndVised by advertisement.
