Playing Mercantile during the week-end, Alhambra added another victory to their recent run of successes, the Scholium Cup holders winning by an innings and throe runs, so retaining, the trophy. J. C. Dow was in good form for the winners, taking eight wickets for 75 and scoring 58 with the hat. Mercantile hatted first and scored 127, Niven hitting up 33 (two sixes*, McLean 20, Wells 18, Warner not out 14 and Norman and W. James each 13. 0. J. Robertson (four for 20) was the most successful howler, while J. C. Dow (three’for 50) did best of the other trundlers. Alhambra replied with 192, ,T. C. Dow leading the way with a hard-hit 58 (six fours), McMahon making 26, Reed 20, Robertson, 18, Kennedy 12 and P Dow 11. E. .Tames did best with the ball, securing three for 22, while Jennings and Norman each took two wickets. With under an hour to hat Mercantile went in again and were all dismissed just -on time for 62 runs. E. James hit throe fours in making 27, but the rest did little. Dow again howled well and finished '<p with five for 25 in seven overs. Caldwell, three for nine, and P. Dow, two for 14, took the other wickets. G. J. Robertson took on the wicketkeeper’s posi tion and performed very well, taking two good catches and stumping two other batsmen. Scores in detail areas follows: —
