Be said that speech Avas changing to a mere mumble, and many plays - were now being writ ten for mnmhling. ' In his opinion, however, tlih theatre must ' reverse thnrfc and show the beauty of speech arid that- it was not. a dull, mumbling thing; hut a ihighlv-colonred beautiful thing’ in itself. ' •
