AIONTHLV .MEETING

The first meeting this year of the East Coast Rabbit Board wag held on Saturday; present: Mr.. E. M. Hutchinson (chairman), and Messrs. M. T. Trafford, E. M. Alonckton, and J. D. Anderson.

In his report to the meeting, Subinspector T. E. England, who works the northern portion, stated: “Since my last report I have made nn inspection of Te Whaiti "country and the upper reaches of the Whirinnki river, and beyond Ponauan, hut no traces of rabbits could be found. Odd traces were. found, on the To Whaiti road • near the Maungawera bridge, three rabbits being caught,, but I was unable to discover any other traces. In the Galatea district .the conditions were much as usual with an. odd .trace here and there. Six rabbits 'wore caught; - No traces of •rabbits' on" tlro-HFaw' ings in the upper. reaches -°f .the Roromanga river.-and on the clearing at Pulcarchbu,. behind Rnatahuna.' During the present month I intend dealing with the country on the. Mohaka river and with the Teharoto country. We began work again on January 9 after the annual holiday leave. Rabbits caught during December were:' Galatea €>, Te Whaiti 3; total 9. ■Sub-Inspector T. R. England’s report dealing with the southern area read as-follows: “During last month 1 inspected a fair portion of this country and found it in good order. The country around the. Mohaka river is now practically clean,' except for a few traces on the Mohaka Crown and Native blocks. I found traces of a rabbit on R-. Runt’s, Taramarama-, and am now. having this place attended to. - I inspected Pihanui, Kaihunnhuna, Te W’aikopiro, F. . nnd.M, Mogfords’, Clydebank and Springfield, and found these places clear. Rabbits killed in the Ngatapa district in November were: Ngatapa station 3, R. -’Andrew’s 2, total 5.
