A London P.A. cable records the death of the New Zealander, Basil Soulsby, a former librarian at the British Afuseum.

The high esteem in which the late Mrs. E. A. Solvander was held was shown by the large attendance at the funeral at Taruheru cemetery. The service was conducted by Canon A. F. Hall, and the pall-bearers comprised members of the Kahutia Bowling; Club, of which Mr. Solvander, husband of the deceased, is a longstanding member. The president, Mr P. W. Smith ,and Messrs It. Morse, B. L. Power, .T. A. Eaton, A. Sawyer and .T. Bothwell represented the club in this connection.

Visiting New Zealand 'for the purpose of seeking for some of his former pupils, Mr. 0. W. Pigott, a retired Liverpool schoolmaster, arrived by the Wanganella at Wellington yesterday. For 35 years he was headmaster of the Great Homer Council School, and has a list of 5500 former, pupils in various parts of the world. He expects to find about 15 in New Zealand. During the last 20 months Mr. Pigott has made three cruises in various parts of the world with the sole object of meeting old boys. While here, however, he hopes to visit some ol t]ie larger schools, and compare the teaching methods adopted, especially with regal'd to music and spout,, with those of England. He is of the opinion that the employment of sport in the edijcation of hoys lias reached the zenith.
