FERGUSON CUP CONTEST. GISBORNE v. HASTINGS. The annual contest for the Ferguson Cup, between teams representing (he Gisborne and Hastings Swimming Clubs will he held at Hastings on Monday, January 23. The Gisborne team will leave on January 22. under the managership of Mr, 0. E. Brown. Keen interest is evinced in (his contest, which is one ol the most imporfcalit in the swimming year. Local swimmers have bcciv in hard training lor some weeks past, and judging hv (lie performances recorded have every hope of success. The selectors have chosen the following to represent, the Gisborne Olub: —

50' yards scratch. —N. Maddox, R. Colebourne, J. Miller. 200 yards relay.—D. W. McKeague (captain), N. Maddox, R. Colebourne. J. Miller.

Water polo.—D. W. AfcKoague (captain), W. MeKengue, A. Clark, N. Afaddox, At. Owen, I?. Aislnhic, ,T. Miller and B. Robinson. Only seven men are requested and the final selection will be made in Hastings. The diving team will be chosen after the club’s carnival on Thursday evening next.
