Cope rip!) c) (Received Jan. 13, 7 p.m.) WASHINGTON, Jan. 12. “Tho United States ranks 17th in military strength among the world’s nations, ’’ General MacArtliur informed the House Appropriations Committee. “She has 132,069 men on active service, and 307,120 on the reserve. The British Empire, he said, ranks eleventh, with 403,1.82 on active service, 711,453 on the reserve and 48,569 in the Ail* Force. Russia is placed first with 848,600 on active service, 18,025,000 on the reserve; France second with 607,000 once active service, and 6,328,000 on the reserve, and 40,005 in the Air .Force; and Italy third, with 457,189 on active service, 6,017,000 on the reserve, and 28,452 in the A. ir Force.
