The theft of over £7OO of Government funds ou account of the Labor Department iu Auckland was discovered when the office of the Department re-opened after the Christmas and New Year holidays. .It is stated that an official of tbc Department .presented a cheque for over £7OO at the hank Just before the official Christmas vacation.

It-was 'not until after the holidays that -it was discovered that an unauthorised sum had been drawn from 'the : account. The official under suspicion has not 'reported for duty since the resumption of work after the holidays and he is believed to have left the country. It is-understood that a warrant has been issued for his arrest.
