FLAX GROWN ON ROYAL ESTATE

FTNE LINEN PRODUCED. . LONDON, Dec. 26. The experimental growing of pedigree flax on the King’s Sandringham estate, under the supervision of the Linen .Research Association and the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research, is believed tjq have proved very successful. A deputation from the. Linen Research Association was received _ by the .King and Queen at Buckingham Palace this week, and tlieir Majesties inspected a variety of linen goods manufactured from flax grown at Sandringham.

The newspapers suggest that large areas of the Royal estate may he devoted to >flax nexh year as'a lend to the home production of this important raw material. In the meantime research will continue.' The articles exhibited at the Palace included damask tablecloths, sheets, dross linens, and furnishing fabrics. The quality of the flax is' declared to ho equal to that, of the best Belgian.’
