Greatly improved values are at present being obtained from claims being worked at Kawaran Gorge by Alessrs Bell and Kilgour and Messrs Bell and Hooper. One report mentioned a sensational return of forty ounces for a day's work, but this cannot be substantiated and the most reliable estimate places the daily average for the week at poz. to llos. Both tunnels are being .driven in very ricb wash and the bottom G still running level. It is stated that, if the wash in. Loth, claims were ,to cut out immediately—an eventuality not contemplated—the miners would still have wonderfully rich, properties in tho a'reas already proved.
